Young children love to get their hands on writing utensils and will use any blank canvas (including walls). Fast foward to those same children in an elementary school classroom and writing is now one of their least favorite experiences and yet writing is a skill that every single profession uses in some way. What if you could reinfuse that excitement about writing back into your students? What if you could come away with tried and true activites that would engage even your most reluctant student? What if you could improve the writing lessons in your textbook adoption quickly and easily? What if you could form a PLN of like-minded educators that you can reach out to during the school year for support and suggestions? In this workshop-style session, we will answer the above questions together while experiencing high engagement writing activites and creating lessons that can be used on the first day of school! This will not be a sit and get of "100 Top Apps for Writing" . Be prepared to dive in and get your hands dirty. I'd encourage access to any textbook adoptions you are required to use as well as lessons that you have used that work well (or didn't) to share.
