Come join us to hear the story of how Windsor Middle School has begun shifting our traditional professional development by putting the planning of our required PD days into the hands of a teacher committee. We have included community building activities, choice sessions where teachers share promising practice, time to implement new learning, reflection, collaboration, and food. Even with all our improvements, we are still looking for better ways to make PD even more empowering for every teacher. Come join us in a discussion and share your current practices for PD along with any experiences you have had with shifting your PD to empower educators. We hope to collaborate with the group, using some principles from design thinking, to identify some of the problems with our current professional development and generate some transformational ideas for better PD in our schools and districts.
