Come join us for an interactive session focusing on video tools that support meaningful learning and building 21st century skills. According to The MacArthur Foundation, “Today’s media formats, that are changing how youth socialize and learn, have raised a new set of issues that educators...have to be aware of.” In this session, participants will see how teachers from Eagle County Schools have integrated video into their classrooms in unique ways to set their students up for success. Participants will then have a choice of exploring up to 6 video tools in a ‘station rotation’ format. This individualized format will allow participants to choose the number of tools they’d like to explore as well as how long they’d like to stay at each station or in the session altogether. Tools we will explore are: Flipgrid, Screencastify, Edpuzzle, Video Ant, TurboNote, and WeVideo. At each station, participants will experience a video tool as a student and then create lessons using the tool from the teacher’s perspective. Our objective is to help teachers improve students’ 21st century skills, such as collaboration and communication, while also strengthening students’ digital media literacy skills. Throughout this session, we will discuss how these tools can support the entire spectrum of learners: from promoting the use of SIOP strategies to improve speaking and listening skills to creating projects in PBL classrooms that encourage student voice and choice. *Please bring a set of headphones! *Check back for website link :)
