Stop. Boring. Students. Too much of education today has been lost in data cycle reviews, assessments, and squeezing too many standards in than one can meaningfully teach. Let's slow down. Let's think about how to foster creativity in our students so they (and we) can rediscover the joy of teaching and learning. Although we may be constrained by standards and district requirements, we CAN foster learning experiences for students that are valuable and encourage creativity. Too many times we tell students to "Be Creative!" or "Use your creativity!", but do we allow time and opportunities for them to practice, critique and revise their creative skills like we do for reading and math skills? Do we simply provide them with a teacher-created Choice Board for fulfilling learning requirements and call it good? Stop. Boring. Students. Come help us design lessons that encourage creativity in our students AND address their learning needs.
