Re-imagine literacy instruction in the secondary Language arts classroom by examining traditional strategies. Participants will brainstorm ways digital literacy has radically transformed literacy education with regard to skills development for research and reasoning, student collaboration, the writing process, and the evaluation/feedback cycle. Libraries and librarians can be powerful places and people for collaboration. Participants will explore different ways library sciences can enhance the experience students have with digital literacy through exploring the role of research databases, virtual classroom tools, as well as other methods of student collaboration. This workshop will be a hands-on experience with a focus on exploring new ideas as well as learning from the expertise in the room as we work together to conceptualize a new literacy classroom for a rapidly evolving educational landscape.
